MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s tennis team will be sending three players to Dallas, Texas for the SMU Red and Blue Challenge at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday (October 8) through Sunday (October 10).
Seniors Anna Turco and Karine-Marion Job will be joined at the tournament by freshman Dinara Alloyarov.
“Our biggest goal for our team this fall is to get plenty of matches,” stated head coach Jordan Smith. “Adding this tournament late was a good way to keep on track with the goals. I’ve been very pleased with our progress so far this fall. We’ve been tough in all of our matches and picking up good wins on the way. I’m excited for Anna, KJ and Dinara to have a good showing down at SMU.”
The trio will compete against several opponents, including those from Big 12 foes Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech. The tournament will consist of seven compass draws with eight competitors in singles and three compass draws of doubles with one round robin draw.
Job and Turco will kick off the weekend with a match at 9 a.m., CT on Friday against Olivia Malm and Ana Carmen Zamburek from Baylor.
At the Ole Miss Invite on September 24, Alloyarova earned her first collegiate victory over Eesha Gudiseva from Ole Miss. The Russian native defeated Gudiseva, 6-1, 6-2. On the second day of competition, Alloyarova took down Ole Miss’ Anaella Leclerq, 6-4, 6-3.
Job also performed well at the Ole Miss Invite, walking away with a 6-2 doubles win with partner Maria Linares. The doubles pair earned a 6-2 victory in its doubles match with Alabama’s Petra Sedlackova and Anna Packhomenko on the final day of competition. In her singles match on day two, Job took down Kelsey Mize from Ole Miss in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
Turco earned her first singles victory of the season at the Ole Miss Invite after taking down Alabama’s Sydeny Orefice, 6-1, 6-1.
