SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– Augustana soccer traveled across town and defeated the Sioux Falls Cougars 4-0 on Friday night. Augustana’s record on the season improves to 5-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in NSIC conference action. The Cougars are 1-8-1 on the season and own an NSIC conference record of 1-5-1.
The first goal in the fourth minute of play was an own goal by USF after some confusion in front of the net. Josie Arduser scored the second of the game for the Vikings with an assist from Morgan Keirstead during the seventh minute. Fehr picked up an assist on Carlie Kray’s goal in the 16th minute of the contest which made the score 3-0.
Fehr, who has recorded eight assists on the season, is now tied with Arduser in the single-season record books for assists in a season. Arduser accomplished her feat in 2019. The eight assists in 2021 are easily tops in the NSIC. The nation’s leader in assists entered Friday with eight.
Fehr notched the fourth goal of the game in the 61st minute of play for the Vikings.
Fehr is the current team leader in assists this season with 8. The all-time record for assists for Augustana was seven, previously held by Josie Arduser. Fehr’s assist during the matchup brings her total to eight, setting a new record for assists in a season.
Goalkeeper Jillian Barkus faced one shot on net during 45 minutes of play. Senior goalkeeper Meghan Kuntz replaced Barkus for the second half of play and faced two shots. The Vikings recorded their fifth shutout of the season.
